An Emeralds and Rose theme is taking over my bullet journal this month! My plan with me posts are so much fun to make and this theme came about in a way I haven’t done before.

Planning My Rose Theme

This month I left my theme up to my subscribers so, if you’re not a subscriber but want to have a say in what happens here on the blog go ahead and join our community!

For this June plan with me, my subscribers sent me ideas and I picked 5 for everyone to vote on. The Roses and Emeralds theme received half the votes!

When Alisa first emailed me the idea I had to include it, I just thought it would be so pretty. Greens and pinks are some of my favourite colour combinations.

But it was very different than what I had been doing in my journal so far this year. I had been doing so much character focused drawing that it was strange to think about taking on something like a plant. I wasn’t sure how I was going to put it together.

But I’m always up for a change of pace and a chance to try something new!

So after getting acquainted with some different angles to draw roses, I moved on to trying to figure out how I was going to change my set up.

I was still having some trouble with my trackers in May and wanted to make them easier to get on top of. As far as my fitness tracker, I had settled into an eating and workout schedule so I didn’t necessarily think that it was something that I needed to add in again this month.

So I scraped those pages for now. Don’t keep on doing something that you don’t need or use just for the sake of having it in there. You can always circle back to it at a later date if you need to.

Emerald and Rose Theme Spreads

Monthly Overview

Over the last little bit, I’ve been trying to work on my lettering and change up my fonts since I usually default into cursive. So I rearranged my monthly overview to incorporate a cover page that would also be an overview of my month.

On the right I have a wonderful quote that I thought just fit the theme and vibe of June so well.

If a June night could talk, it would probably boast it invented romance.

Bernard Williams

I chose a font from my Pinterest Board where I keep all that fun stuff and tested it out. I chose “smooth stone” in case you wanted to know.

Again, I thought that this was nice and soft and fit with the flowery theme I was going for.

On the left I put a tiny little calendar and my important dates since I haven’t been using my mini calendar the way that I had been wanting to.

I still think it’s so important to have sections for monthly goals and major tasks that need to get completed so those are on this page as well.

To decorate the page I drew a large rose in the bottom middle of the spread but instead of adding leaves I drew emeralds flanking the bud.

I typically use my tombows to colour in my spreads but I thought that would be too harsh here so I opted to use pencil crayons instead.

The pencils gave it a good gradient of colour and allowed me to make it much softer and more romantic.

It also made it more difficult to take pictures without the light washing out the pastel shades. So please forgive that.

Rose Theme Monthly Trackers

I put all my trackers on one spread this month in order to have them all conglomerated. By having them all together I hope that it’ll be easier for me to fill them all out at the same time.

Habit tracker

I started with my standard set up for a ryder calendar and a small habit tracker on the right hand page.

At the bottom I make a line of roses and I coloured each Monday row in the same pink in order to separate my weeks.

Chores Tracker

I’ve been slowly creeping back into my “do it all on the weekend” mindset when it comes to chores. And I don’t like it one bit.

I like being able to do 15 minutes of cleaning a day and have the house 80% clean 80% of the time. So I’m going to make a solid effort to stick with it in June.

Coming into the month I have some momentum since my wonderful daughters decided to surprise me by cleaning most of the house themselves on Sunday.

They’re 5 and 8. I’m so lucky. They actually did a really good job. So all I need to do is maintain! I think I can handle that…

Gratitude

Having a gratitude tracker is a wonderful way to stay in a positive mindset and remember all the things that make your life good and special. Read all about it here.

If you haven’t tried one, you should!

Decoration on this side centered on emeralds. I have a side view on the top of the page and a few different shapes in the bottom corner.

I’m getting my sea legs here with these, so bare with me!

Planning Pages

Having planning pages are a huge must for me. If I know what my priorities for the month are going in, then I can move them to a specific week’s task list to make sure they get done.

I usually have a section for post ideas, projects I’m working on and then any other things that need to happen. This month it will be getting my car detailed and sending in the girls’ passport applications.

I love this rose at the bottom of my blog planning page!

It was inspired by It’s Me Andie, a super talented bullet journal enthusiast. I added some emerald crystals beside it as well. Then, in the opposite corner, I drew an emerald in the middle of a few rose leaves. That turned out pretty.

Week 1

My first weekly is a bit different as well. And I forgot to make room for my task list :*(. But I’ll work with it.

I gave myself a big block at the top to draw, which is new.

This spread was inspired by the Instagramer @rachelbujo. She did a beautiful job creating her spread and it was a great starting point for my making this one!

I added in my daily columns and at the top, I have my roses and the dates along with another tiny calendar. I usually don’t add those into my spreads but thought it was a fit with this more “classic” feeling of this theme and spread.

Your turn!

This theme is so pretty! Just like I knew it would be.

It feels so romantic, classic and… a bit British to me. What do you think?

I think we could call it “English Rose”

It was fun to experiment with using something other than my markers for these layouts as well. My bujo is usually so bright but the softer shades of pink and green here are beautiful.

Thank you so much to all my subscribers for the wonderful ideas that they sent to me. It was so much fun to see what you thought up. There is one idea in particular that didn’t get picked this time but that I definitely want to do so as always, stay tuned and subscribe for more fun!

Until next time,
