May Flip Through

May, what a great month. From the showers come the flowers. But instead of going that traditional route for my May flip through I decided to do a ballet theme. Equally bright but a little more unorthodox, I chose to minimize the drawings and actually opted for colourful watercolour silhouettes of dancers. My floral fabric washi tape makes another appearance adding the flowers to the month of May.

The Spreads

May Flip Through calendar
I did a full traditional calendar again this month but, just like in April, didn’t use it. I’ll be revamping this page for June
Flip Through dancer
I put in a fun dancer with a quote from Mary Angelou that fits with dancing and life, very appropriate
Habit tracker and gratitude page may flip through
This month I had a larger section for goals and tasks and changed the habit tracker colours based on the date. I absolutely loved this picture I found for my gratitude page. Beautiful
The first week of May brought my first spread of randomly shaped boxes. They had to fit around my pictures after all! I also used my washi tape on the corners of the pictures to add dimension.
Taking some inspiration from The Nutcracker, I chose to draw some butterfly or fairies wings on my first goals page in honour of the sugar plum fairies.
Partner may flip through
These partners dancing pictures were great and a paired them side by side for a different layout
dancers may flip through
I like to add small variances to my spreads within my theme by swapping the sides the pictures are on.
swans may flip through
My second goal page is inspired by Swan Lake. I added some line draws of swans to the bottom corner of the page
The subtly… This page is mostly blue but the next page is pink so there is a pink dancer leading you into the last spread
May Flip Through
One of my only drawings this month was a ballet dancer at the bottom of this page. I liked its simplicity and the girly focus on the bun and ribbon
May Flip through final spread
My last goal page was just for one week and I once again kept it simple with a pair of ballet shoes and some pink squiggly non-sense. On the opposite page is my lead into June- with a fun quote to remind myself not to be too structured, what a contrast to ballet

Thoughts

This month turned out so pretty! I loved the pictures that I chose for the spreads and it was so quick and easy to put together once I had my pictures chosen. If you’re someone who wants some colour and art in their journal but doesn’t want to draw try this approach!

*You might notice some slight blurring on a few of the spreads. This is because I blurred out the names of some of my clients to protect their privacy. Thanks for understanding!
