February Plan with Me 2019

Here we are. Just a few weeks into the year and all I can see everywhere is Valentine’s day candy, chocolate, stuffed animals…It’s funny how the holidays flow like that through the winter. Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas to Valentine’s. But don’t worry this February plan with me isn’t full of hearts and roses.

Last year I started out with a roses theme for February but I quickly tired of it and it turned out a bit different by the end. This year though, I’m pumped about my theme.

Planning it out

If you’re on my email list then you know I love to plan out my themes and spreads well in advance. For this month you can take a look at my inspiration images on my Pinterest Board for all things Disney. Make sure you follow me while you’re there!

This month’s theme evolved through a few ideas. I was thinking (as I do some times) Valentine’s Day. Then I thought “ugh”. Then I thought “true love” and what fits true love better than Disney Princesses!!

Yes that’s right. My February plan with me is focused on Disney Princesses. Well, in truth, Disney leading ladies. I was listing out princesses and I quickly realized that there are ones that I like more than others. I also like the messages from certain movies better than other ones.

It was hard to narrow it down to just 10 female characters to include for my set up and weeklies! I didn’t even do that, I chose 11.

This will be a challenging theme since I don’t fancy myself a good “people” drawer. Oh well, all we can do is our best right?

Monthly Set Up

Calendars

My first page is the mini calendar that I’m fond of doing with a big swath of pink behind the February. I wasn’t too confident quite yet about my abilities so I drew a cute bubble-eyed version of Belle in her iconic dress. Side note: that’s the only rose! I promise.

I thought about doing the whole month “Beauty and the Beast” with the roses and what not… But there were too many other princesses that needed to be included.

In order to give me more room for my drawing I put my goal, task and up coming sections vertically down the side of the page.

I’m happy February is a short month. My Ryder calendar is just about as high up as it can get so I have doodle room under it and my habit tracker for more princesses!

This time I have Rapunzel and Jasmine with their respective animal partners. You can’t be a Princess without having an animal familiar right?? Or is that witches… anyways.

This little Rapunzel is sooooo cute!!!

Ok, reeling it in a bit. I told you I was excited about this February Plan with me!

Gratitude and Chores Tracker

My next page has my Gratitude log which is a staple in my journal. I love being able to write down the little things that make my day so I can remember how blessed I am.

For this spread, I tried a new font when writing out Gratitude. I thought an “Old English” type script went with Merida from Brave. I have her at the bottom hugging her 3 bear brothers as they climb all over her. Her hair turned out pretty good. Layering the orange gave it a little oomph.

Who better to adorn my chores page than the princess that joyfully goes about her work day in and day out. Cinderella is an underrated princess in my opinion. Watch this video if you don’t agree.

The quote here fits perfectly. “Even Miracles take a little time”. That’s to remind me that no matter how crazy the house seems to get, getting it spic and span may take a bit of time but will be worth it.

Planning Pages

A February plan with me wouldn’t be complete without planning pages. So that’s exactly what’s up next. I have a planning page featuring Meg from Hercules. One of her best lines, and there are lots to choose from, is:

“I’m a damsel, I’m in distress, I can handle this… have a nice day.”

I thought this was the perfect thing to put here. When things are hectic you just gotta remember, you can handle it. It will be a good day. I didn’t want to consider myself a damsel in distress though so I cut the quote to the last 2 lines.

This is the page I’m least happy with currently. It’s so good! Except for Meg’s face. Which is sort of a big deal… I made it a bit too small so it was hard to draw in her features. It ended up being pretty cramped and yeah, she’s not as pretty as she is when Disney draws her. But theses things happen. You can check out this post for fixing mistakes if you’re inclined.

The corresponding plan page redeems me though!

My February planning page has a truly underrated princess on it. The movie, Atlantis: The Lost Empire made me want to be an ancient languages decoder when I was a kid. A female Milo really. Seriously, I ended up decoding the Fae language in Artemis Fowl followed my Dwarfish in The Hobbit and Elvish in The Lord of the Rings shortly after. Yep, that’s a bit about me lol.

But Kida is awesome. Which is why I had to have her in this setup. It was super hard to find a good reference photo for her though. But I love the way she turned out. Not bad for a terrible people drawer.

Moving into the Weeklies

I’m super jazzed for all the other leading ladies I’m going to be including through out the month. And Disney has so many awesome quotes that I don’t even know how I’ll fit them in.

Which leading lady is your favourite? Is there any that you want to see in February from me? Let me know in the comments and make sure to follow us on social or sign up for our email list so you can get notified when the flip through comes out! That way you can see if I drew your favourite.
