I don’t think it’s an understatement to say that the last few weeks have been incredibly different. Things around the world are changing at an increasingly rapid pace. It sort of feels like we fell down the rabbit hole eh? I guess that’s why my April bullet journal theme is Alice in Wonderland.
Well that and my undying love of tea.
This month I really wanted a lively theme. And I love a theme where I can throw in some really fun quotes.
Alice in Wonderful was the perfect fit.
Planning my Alice and Wonderland Theme
With this theme, I reverted to the Rachael of old when I would plan all my spreads out for the whole month before I started. Quite contrary to the fun Alice quote saying “I can’t go back to yesterday- I was a different person then!”
I toyed around with the idea of having all of my spreads be tea focused. After all the tea party is ICONIC and I could totally fit right in with the March Hare and Mad Hatter just always singing about birthdays and tea.
But in the end I wanted to have Alice on each spread with some of the characters that have great lines.
April Bullet Journal Setup
Moving right into the spreads, the colour palette for April is very bright!
I’m using a lot of sky blue, yellow and my silver gel pen to spice it up.
April Monthly Setup
In many of my monthly setups I have a larger drawing but this month I used a large quote instead.
As I said, there are so many great Alice in Wonderland quotes that I just needed to put in as many as I possibly could.
This one is:
“You simply MUST join me in a cup of tea!”
Of course, with Alice literally having fell into a cup of tea.
There are also a cookie labeled “Eat Me” and a key for the door leading to Wonderland.
I stuck with the Ryder Calendar variation I’ve been using over the past 2 months and added 5 weekly boxes at the bottom of the spread.
I’m a tiny bit worried that I won’t have enough room but… I’m hoping for the best. All the months I’ve done this with so far have had 4 weeks so it’s just a little squishier.
April Gratitude Tracker
For my gratitude log this month I just chose to put Alice sitting on a cup of tea. The quote that goes with her says: “would you like an adventure now or shall we have tea first?”
The answer is always tea first lol
Planning Pages
There are 2 planning pages in my bullet journal monthly setup for April. The first is for my blog, as usual. And I just couldn’t pass up the chance to use the quote “she generally gave herself very good advice”.
Having Alice here looking so sweet was wonderful makes me smile.
I tried to keep it empowering by leaving off the second part that says “although she seldom followed it” 😅.
My second planning page is for something brand new that I’m just starting (sign up for my email list to get details!)
But, again, it was just perfect to use the quote “the chief difficulty Alice found at first was managing her flamingo”.
I thought it encapsulated the struggle to get a hold of something that’s new to you.

First April Weekly
The first weekly of April follows generally the same formula as it’s March counterpoint but I am loving the Rolling Weekly system that I’m incorporating.
So I have my daily boxes on the right and my running task list on the left. There are also charts for workouts and the weather forecast.
At the beginning of Alice’s journey she tells Dinah “If I had a world of my own everything would be nonsense.” So she’s saying that here at the beginning of the month.
This Alice is reminiscent of my Disney Princess theme last February. Just so cute!
And, lastly, I added in a few flowers to fill up some space in the top right and added a rocking-horse-fly and a bread-and-butterfly for a bit of fun.
