Rose Theme Flip Through

I love floral. It’s actually nauseating how much stuff I have that is stamped with flowers of all types. But I’ve never done a flower theme in my bullet journal. That is until this rose theme flip through!

Bullet Journal flip through for June with a Rose and Emerald theme.

Last month I was lucky enough to get some awesome suggestions from my subscribers and after a quick poll, the theme that was chosen was this: Roses and Emeralds.

But on to the flip through.

June Rose Theme Flip Through

Funny story.

My wonderful subscriber, Alisa, was the one who came up with this theme idea. She sent it to me and said, “What about roses and emeralds since roses are the flower of the month and emeralds are the birthstone?”

I was like yes, what a good idea.

Also I love pink and green together.

So I added it as one of the choices to vote on. And no sooner than I had put it on the docket did she message me back saying “OMG! You’re going to kill me!” and told me that emeralds aren’t actually the right birthstone.

But it was too late. It was already out there.

And I’m not mad about it.

The combination is super pretty and a whole gang of other subscribers voted for the theme anyway. So really no one was the wiser until right now, since I’m outing her lol.

Thanks for being a great sport Alisa and supplying this beautiful theme idea, even if it was slightly unintentional.

Calendar

For this month my calendar page is simple.

It includes a mini traditional calendar and sections for important dates, goals and tasks.

On this page I made a large rose and flanked it with emeralds instead of leaves. It only took this one page to tell me that I should NOT be outlining my drawings in black like I normally do. It just took away from the vibe of the page. It didn’t look as organic.

Trackers

My next page is my Ryder calendar, habit tracker, chores tracker and gratitude log.

Small habit tracker, chores tracker and gratitude log.

I did quite a bit better this time around when it came to filling things out. But looking at it before I set up my July spread told me that I didn’t really need my habit tracker right now.

I only have a few things that I was tracking and its stuff that is pretty ingrained. I use my habit tracker to build habits but since there was nothing I was trying to change it stayed blank for the most part.

I think it’s super essential to make sure that you reassess your setups every time you make one. Part of the reason I bullet journal is so that I can change things and make sure they work for me so if I’m not using something or finding it useful then I want to mix it up.

Planning Pages

I really liked how these pages look and the font that I chose to use for the titles. I feel like it complements by not being quite as feminine.

Rose Theme Weeklies

These weekly spreads were a great chance for me to experiment and get away from the 2 spreads that I had been sticking with.

For weeks and weeks I’d really been doing variations of 4 boxes a page or 3 horizontal rectangles.

But this month I branched out and broke things up a bit.

I added a date title to each spread and a mini calendar with the week I was in highlighted in a blush tone.

Week 1

This spread was inspired by @rachelbujo .

I thought it turned out pretty but the boxes ended up with a lot of empty space. I also realized after I finished that I didn’t make a space for a task box.

Task boxes have been a major game changer on my weekly spreads since I usually have stuff I need to do but I’m unsure as to when I will get to it.

Having a task box gives it a home until I can include it in my daily planning.

This situation needed to be rectified for the following week.

Week 2

This spread got a bit more geometric and I made another mistake… all the dates were wrong when I wrote them in.

Use pencil when you can and ALWAYS double check before you ink!

But if you pull a shenanigan like me check out this post on how to fix those mistakes. We all make them.

I had a task box here but the horizontal box for the weekend wasn’t doing it for me.

More changes to come.

Week 3

This week the spread was starting to come together.

I did a similar set up with the columns but I made sure there were 6 and that I had space for a task box at the top.

Again I have the title and the mini calendar and roses flanked with emeralds.

I did something new at the bottom as well.

I added in 2 boxes at the bottom of each day. One for the weather and what I was planning on wearing and the other for a workout plan.

Unfortunately I only got to the gym once, but the intention was there!

I thought this would be a handy variation so that I could cut out my habit tracker but it’s not quite where I need it to be.

Week 4

I really liked the set up of the last spread but I wanted more task box space. With moving in July and running 2 businesses, I just needed some extra padding.

In order to do that I shortened the dailies and added 2 task boxes. The one on the bottom left is for moving to dos and the top right is for my usual to dos.

This was pretty helpful since I could separate and prioritize a little bit better.

Moving into July

No pun intended 😅

I’m so pleased with the theme!

It was so much softer and prettier than I thought I could do and I have to say thank you again to all my subscribers for pushing me out of my comfort zone with this emerald and rose theme.

Moving away from my character themes was a fun departure. Even though I’m looking forward to getting back to it in July (check out my plan with me here) I will definitely come back to this style in the future.

Flowers are such an elegant theme that can be so minimalist or maximalist depending on what you like. It’s also a great place to start if you don’t have a ton of confidence in your drawing abilities.

Drawing flowers or using cutout or washi tape can lead to some awesome results.
